Stowaway...
Maggie stretched her small paws out in front of her. She could feel the soft pillow she was laying on but she couldn’t see anything. She blinked her eyes again. Still dark.
It was morning when she had climbed into the trunk and laid down for a nap. She knew she shouldn’t be sleeping on her sister’s pillows. Princess Katie was very particular about whose cat hair was on her things.
“Prissy Sissy, that’s what she is, always prancing around and acting like a princess,” thought Maggie. “Well, I’m a princess, too! Just because she was born first, everyone thinks she is more important, but she’s not!”
Maggie tried poking her head up between the pillows. She knew someone had put something on top of her but she had been so comfortable and so sleepy that she hadn’t moved a muscle.
“Whatever they put on top was really heavy. I can barely get my head up.”
Maggie struggled to extricate herself from between the pillows but it was no use. She crawled forward between the pillows to the side of the trunk and pushed her head above the next pillow up. There was something above that! It felt like a blanket.
“If its Katie’s favorite blanket, I’m really in trouble,” her mind raced as she pulled herself on top of the blanket. There was a little air but it was just as dark. Maggie tried to stand up and clunked her head on something hard. It was the top of the trunk. The lid was down.
“I’m trapped!” Maggie thought in a panic. And then she noticed a funny vibrating feeling and a low rumbling sound, just like she was riding in a car, or a plane, or a …
“Oh no! I’m in the space ship!”
