Stowaway...

Maggie stretched her small paws out in front of her. She could feel the soft pillow she was laying on but she couldn’t see anything. She blinked her eyes again. Still dark.

It was morning when she had climbed into the trunk and laid down for a nap. She knew she shouldn’t be sleeping on her sister’s pillows. Princess Katie was very particular about whose cat hair was on her things.

“Prissy Sissy, that’s what she is, always prancing around and acting like a princess,” thought Maggie. “Well, I’m a princess, too! Just because she was born first, everyone thinks she is more important, but she’s not!”

Maggie tried poking her head up between the pillows. She knew someone had put something on top of her but she had been so comfortable and so sleepy that she hadn’t moved a muscle.

“Whatever they put on top was really heavy. I can barely get my head up.”

Maggie struggled to extricate herself from between the pillows but it was no use. She crawled forward between the pillows to the side of the trunk and pushed her head above the next pillow up. There was something above that! It felt like a blanket.
“If its Katie’s favorite blanket, I’m really in trouble,” her mind raced as she pulled herself on top of the blanket. There was a little air but it was just as dark. Maggie tried to stand up and clunked her head on something hard. It was the top of the trunk. The lid was down.

“I’m trapped!” Maggie thought in a panic. And then she noticed a funny vibrating feeling and a low rumbling sound, just like she was riding in a car, or a plane, or a …

“Oh no! I’m in the space ship!”

On the ship

We’re finally aboard the spaceship.

There was a crowd of Princess Katie’s devoted admirers waving their hankies and blowing kisses at our send off. Katie trotted up the gangplank and turned briefly and blew a single kiss to the crowd. I, on the other hand, carried all the luggage – including velvet pillows, extra diamond collars, catnip treats and Katie’s favorite crunchies – into our cabins and settled in.

Princess Katie’s compartment is spacious, as befits Royalty and an ambassadorette to our home world of Zantha. It is filled with cat toys and plenty of room to run around. It has trees to climb and places to nap. And a bowl that is always filled with fresh cream and another one with salmon and tuna. I was delighted to see how wonderful it was and thought the Princess would dash about and play with everything right away but she accepted all the fuss with a quiet dignity that befits a cat of her rank and settled herself on a cushion to wash her face.

I knew that if her sister Maggie Mae was here she would be on the highest branch of the tree before you could say lickety-split and before you could wonder how she got up there so fast she would be down on the ground playing with a catnip mouse.

What I didn’t know is that while I was settling and admiring my slightly smaller but just as wonderful cabin down deep in the hold of the ship in one in one of the boxes way in the back a pair of yellow eyes were blinking awake.

Leaving Earth...

Princess Katie and I are all packed and ready to go. Our first stop is to go home to our native planet of Zantha.

We have been visiting earth for far too long and are tired of all the hustle and bustle. Our job of setting up an embassy here is done and we are leaving capable cats in charge. Sir Thomas will be in charge. His wisdom and confidence will bring a quiet dignity to the embassy. Shayna is in charge of everyday operations - if you want to know what's going on - ask her. She'll fill you in on all the details and most likely invite you to lunch. Shayna knows everything goes better with food.

Maggie Mae, Princess Katie's little sister, will be staying on here to get her earthside barring but we expect that when she gets a little bigger she will be joining us on our journey. Right now she is giving valuable advice on playing to a web-building company named Bad Cat Graphics. You can see a picture of her on their website www.badcatgraphics.com.

I can see them loading our baggage now! I have to catch up with the Princess! I'll write more as soon as our journey begins.
