Photo Quilts:

I did my first photo quilt when the idea of printing on fabric out from the computer wasn't a reality. Now there are products like printed treasures and a myriad of books and magazines on the subject. If you sew and own a computer, it's a piece of cake. If you don't have those things, it's still possible.

This is the first photo quilt that I made. I didn't get finished because Jack and I got divorced. But it makes a great teaching quilt and it is a great example of the "Ami Simms" method that I teach.

Ami Simms wrote a wonderful book on photo quilting: Creating Scrapbook Quilts.

The book has everything you need to know about constructing a photo quilt. Unfortunately when the book was written "Printed Treasures" didn't exist. Printed treasures is the best paper backed material for printing on out of your inkjet computer.

The pictures on this quilt were transferred by a variety of methods. It's so much easier now. All you need is an inkjet printer or copier and some good photographs and you're ready to go.
